Environmental education

EducationAll About Trees is a comprehensive resource created by Dr Amelia McQueen that supports an Inquiry Learning model to explore opportunities within the Arboretum.  Children are encouraged to be actively involved in the learning experiences and come away with a new appreciation of their natural environment (and feel a bit tired from clambering around the hills).  This curriculum based programme is suited to Year 4 upwards and can be tailored to meet specific Learning Outcomes.

Lynne Arnold, Environ-educator is available to work with teachers to provide hands-on learning using All About Trees.  With many years of primary teaching experience, Lynne conducts an introductory session at your school about the Arboretum and your chosen focus.  She then leads a follow up session at Guthrie-Smith Tutira as part of a full day, part day, or in-camp experience, as your need dictates.

Graphical information visually supports the learning opportunities, with an increasing number of fact-rich signs around the 90 hectares.
