Mike joined the Trust in 2008, after being approached by fellow trustee Chris Ryan. Mike has a ‘lifetime’ of establishing and managing various tree species, in addition to serving on and chairing a number of committees and boards involved with land management and forestry issues.
“I have long-held a passion for trees and timber. I believe that in an increasingly urbanised society, people need to be educated in the use of trees as a tool in sustainable land management and the part trees and forests play in a ‘whole’ ecosystem. I see the development of the Arboretum and an education programme in natural sciences built around it, as an ideal medium to achieve this.”
